Critical Reviews

Excerpts from reviews, recommendation letters and essays written by distinguished musicians, educators and cultural figures. The quotations below follow the original wording of the documents you provided (with only minor typographical corrections).

Alisher Latif-Zade is an excellent musician and an experienced educator. He has participated in multiple international projects and collaborated with artists of the highest level. He has a unique grounding in Eastern musical traditions and communicates his ideas clearly both through music and in conversation.
Yo-Yo Ma, cellist (USA)
I worked with Mr. Latif-Zade directly as conductor of the New Juilliard Ensemble, for which he wrote a work. I can state with confidence that his new composition was truly excellent and stands out even among works by world-renowned composers.
Dr. Joel Sachs, conductor; New Juilliard Ensemble / The Juilliard School
Mr. Latif-Zade is a highly talented composer whose music synthesizes multiple idioms: Western classical tradition, jazz, popular styles and authentic Central Asian heritage. His unconventional musical language is an original voice on today’s international stage.
Prof. Theodore Levin, Dartmouth College (USA)
The work he performed at the festival—a large symphonic piece in memory of Alfred Schnittke—was among the most impressive contributions. His selection for Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road project reflects high recognition. His Piano Concerto is written to the highest standards of compositional craft.
Peter Child, Professor of Music, MIT (USA)
Alisher Latif-Zade was elected to membership in the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in September 2000. It is an honor to know Alisher and his music.
Chia Toscanini, Vice President, ASCAP (New York)
The sensitivity, culture and professional level of Maestro Latif-Zade made a substantial contribution to the success of our production after Pirandello. I sincerely recommend him to everyone interested in his work.
Sebastiano Maria Salvato, theatre director (Italy)
